Before You Begin
Automatum works on top of your AWS or Azure Marketplace seller account — it does not register you as a seller. Before you onboard, you need to be an approved marketplace seller with tax and banking set up. (Once connected, Automatum can create new listings for you or sync existing ones — a live listing is not required first.) This page is your pre-flight: complete everything here first.
Choose your path
Automatum works with AWS Marketplace, Azure Marketplace, or both. Pick your path and follow the matching items throughout:

Which cloud should I choose?
Sell where your buyers procure. Many ISVs start with one marketplace and add the other later — you can always come back and complete the second path. The Stage 2 steps (connecting Automatum) are the same regardless.
Prerequisites — complete before Automatum
Shared — needed for AWS and Azure
- [ ] Registered legal business entity (company name, address)
- [ ] Country of incorporation on the marketplace's supported-seller list
- [ ] Tax information ready (tax ID, VAT number where applicable)
- [ ] Government-issued photo ID — only if you don't already have AWS Partner Central / Azure Partner Center set up (see note below)
- [ ] Bank account that can receive marketplace disbursements (payouts)
- [ ] An Automatum account (app.automatum.io)
AWS only
- [ ] Approved AWS Marketplace seller account (registered via AWS Partner Central)
- [ ] A dedicated AWS account as your seller-of-record — the account that legally makes the sales (recommended — see below)
- [ ] A smartphone for AWS identity verification (photo ID + selfie) — only if you don't already have an AWS Partner Central account
- [ ] Permission to create an IAM role (a scoped AWS permission set) in that AWS account
- [ ] Tax + disbursement (payout) profiles submitted and verified
Azure only
- [ ] Approved Azure / Partner Center publisher account (work email that owns your domain + an MPN ID — your Microsoft Partner Network ID)
- [ ] The Microsoft Authenticator app for Azure identity verification — only if you don't already have a Partner Center account

- [ ] Tax + payout profiles submitted and validated (tax before payout)
About identity verification
Identity verification belongs to your AWS Partner Central or Azure Partner Center account — not to Marketplace itself. If you're already an AWS Partner or an enrolled Azure publisher, you're verified and can skip it entirely. It only applies to a brand-new account:
- AWS Partner Central — a government photo ID plus a smartphone selfie via a QR-code mobile flow (3 attempts per 24 hours). AWS verification process.
- Azure Partner Center — a government ID plus the Microsoft Authenticator app at enrollment. Complete identity verification.
- AWS KYC ("Know Your Customer") — a separate step asking for beneficial-owner IDs, but only if you sell to EMEA, use a UK bank account, or get paid for South Korea transactions. Complete the KYC process.
Two more things to confirm before you start: your country of incorporation must be on the marketplace's supported-seller list (AWS lists 16 supported jurisdictions; Azure's supported markets are in Partner Center). And on AWS, register with a dedicated AWS account as your seller-of-record so Marketplace billing and reporting stay isolated from your other workloads (Seller account considerations).
Do tax + banking first — before any offers
You must set up tax and banking/payout before you can create any offers, public or private. A common, costly mistake is starting listing work first — it can cost weeks. Finish tax + banking first, then move on to listings and offers.
Don't start Automatum onboarding until your seller account is ready
Automatum acts on top of your marketplace account. If tax or banking isn't verified, transactions and disbursements will fail. Finish Stage 1 — approved seller with verified tax/banking — before moving to Stage 2.
Why each prerequisite matters

Start early — this takes time
AWS states seller registration can take 1–4 weeks when information is accurate. Azure tax and payout profiles must be validated before you can transact (validation alone can take up to 48 hours). Begin now so Stage 2 isn't blocked later.

FAQ
I sell on both AWS and Azure — do I do everything twice? Only the Stage 1 seller-registration steps are per-cloud (complete each once). The shared prerequisites and all of Stage 2 (connecting Automatum) are done once and cover both.
How long until I can transact? AWS seller registration typically takes 1–4 weeks when your information is accurate. Azure tax and payout profiles must be validated first — validation alone can take up to ~48 hours.
Do I need to complete KYC? Only on AWS, and only if you sell to EMEA, use a UK bank account, or get paid for South Korea transactions. Otherwise you can skip it.
Can I use my main AWS account? It works, but AWS recommends a dedicated AWS account as your seller-of-record so Marketplace billing and reporting stay isolated from your other workloads.
Do I need a published listing first? No. Automatum can create new listings for you or sync existing ones once you're connected — a live listing is not a prerequisite.
Is my data safe? Does Automatum need root access? No root access. On AWS, Automatum connects through a scoped IAM role only; on Azure, through Partner Center credentials you control — you set both up yourself in Stage 2.
